Tyler Peters Drives In 4 To Lead Bellville Tygers 18U Past Thistle

Tyler Peters drove in four runs on two hits to lead Bellville Tygers 18U past Thistle 17-0 on Saturday. Peters hit an inside the park home run in the third scoring three, doubled in the first scoring one, and walked in the fourth scoring one.

Bellville Tygers 18U got on the board in the top of the first inning after Peters doubled, scoring one run, Rian Kuyk singled, scoring one run, an error scored two runs, and Jordan Jeffries singled, scoring one run.

Bellville Tygers 18U scored five runs on three hits in the top of the second inning. Kuyk singled, scoring one run, Jaryd Rode tripled, scoring two runs, Tyler Govender drew a walk, scoring one run, and Zak Smalberge singled, scoring one run.

Bellville Tygers 18U scored three runs in the top of the third on an inside the park home run by Peters.

Jeffries earned the win for Bellville Tygers 18U. The starting pitcher gave up zero hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out six and walking one. Colin Marcombie took the loss for Thistle. The pitcher went two-thirds of an inning, surrendering nine runs (eight earned) on five hits, striking out none and walking three.

Peters and Kuyk were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Bellville Tygers 18U. Bellville Tygers 18U had a strong eye at the plate, piling up 12 walks for the game. Lyle Farrel, Govender, and Tiaan Engelco led the team with two free passes each. Farrel stole two bases. Bellville Tygers 18U were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Govender made the most plays with six.

Monray Kadie stole two bases.
