Bellville Tygers Dominate Crusaders with 18-1 Victory
CAPE TOWN, December 1, 2024 — The Bellville Tygers delivered a commanding performance in their 18-1 victory over the Crusaders in Cape Town Baseball Federation Major League action at the Crusaders’ home field. Powered by explosive hitting, solid pitching, and aggressive baserunning, the Tygers improved their record to 7-4, while the Crusaders dropped to 3-8.
Tygers Set the Tone Early
Bellville wasted no time establishing their dominance, plating two runs in the first inning before erupting for three more in the second. By the time the fifth inning rolled around, the Tygers had tallied an astonishing 12 additional runs, showcasing a relentless offense and capitalizing on the Crusaders’ defensive errors.
First baseman A Randall led the charge for the Tygers, going 3-for-3 with a home run, four runs scored, and two RBIs. Center fielder M Steyn added to the onslaught, driving in three runs with a triple and a double while scoring three times.
“I think our preparation and execution were spot on today,” Randall said. “We were aggressive on the bases and took advantage of every opportunity.”
Crusaders Struggle to Find Rhythm
The Crusaders managed to score their lone run in the bottom of the first inning, thanks to a single by catcher C Beukes, which brought home J Williams. Unfortunately for the Crusaders, their offense fizzled after that initial burst, managing just five hits against Tyger pitching.
